Thurston County CLE - Attachment Disorder

Thurston County Family & Juvenile Court and the Thurston County Bar Association present free training for legal, mental health, education and social services professionals working with court-involved children and families.

This workshop will focus on nontraditional approaches to working with children who have been identified as having attachment challenges.
The workshop will briefly review the definitions of attachment and attachment disorder. A major emphasis of the training will address strategies that parents, foster parents, relative caregivers, therapists and agency staff can utilize to help children and youth form more secure attachment that can support successes in all domains of their lives
including:
* Understanding and passing the *test* children and youth have for the adults in their lives
* The core competencies of proactive caregivers to enhance attachment
* Promoting self-regulation in children and adolescents
* Understanding and utilizing the nontraditional parenting skills that can enhance attachment
* Managing power struggle behavior that is common with youth who have attachment challenges

* Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit is free. This program has been approved for 1 CLE Credit. No pre-registration is required.
